President Goodluck Jonathan has stepped into the row sparked by the N9billion variation on the contract sum for the new official residence of Vice President Namadi Sambo.
The project was originally planned to cost N7billion.
A request for the approval of the National Assembly for an additional N9billion for the purpose of providing furniture, fence, two protocol guest houses, a banquet hall and security gadgets has provoked outrage across the country.
President Jonathan is said to be dismayed by the controversy trailing the request and asked to be briefed by Vice President Sambo on the issue.

Below is what the ex-Plantashun boys band member said in a recent interview with Entertainment Expressconcerning his issues with 2face Idibia over rights to hit song, African Queen, which they co-wrote.
I know the song has generated a whole lot of revenue. Right now, I and Tuface have joint ownership of that song. But from the inception it was not like that. My publisher, BMI had to find a way to work that out. All the funds the song has been generating I’m supposed to have 50 per cent of it, which I’m not getting and I don’t just know what is happening. There is even a situation whereby somebody in Jamaica sang African Queen and some other persons like that of which I was not aware. Nobody told me that he was going to sing my song. So, there are some issues that I and Tuface need to sit down and iron out, but Tuface is difficult to get on the table. So I have decided to do it on my own. Surely, with time we’ll get to the root of the matter because we both have 50 per cent right to the song.
The sold out concert took place last night Friday December 21st at Lugogo Cricket stadium. Thousands of fans trooped to the stadium to watch the twin brothers perform live!

I’m honestly looking forward to his double album next year.

Facebook has launched a pilot scheme selling strangers access to users’ inboxes.
The social networking website has introduced a fee, believed to be $1, to guarantee that messages are routed to a recipient’s ‘inbox’ and not their ‘other’ folder, where they are likely to be ignored.
Facebook has billed it as giving users the chance to hear from people they do not know but who have an ‘important’ message for them. It argues the fee will actually cut down on the amount of unwanted messages.
Networking: Facebook will guarantee a message is routed to a user’s inbox
But the trial, which began yesterday, has sparked fears that businesses will be happy to pay such a low charge and bombard people’s inboxes with advertising.
Facebook previously only allowed messages into an inbox if the recipient was ‘friends’ with the sender. It also uses algorithm calculations to let ‘relevant’ messages through, such as those sent from a ‘friend of a friend’.
All other messages are routed to the other folder, similar to a junk or spam email filter.

Ten-month-old Liaoliao was born with skin covering her eyes. Only about one hundred patients in the world suffer from the condition called cryptophthalmia. After an operation on her right eye, Liaoliao’s family hopes she will soon be able to see the world for the first time, Xiamen’s major news portal xmnn.cn reports.
When Liaoliao was born this February, her family faced the shocking news that her eyes were covered with skin, and she had no eyelashes or eyebrows. As a result, the family were apprehensive about sharing the news of Liaoliao’s condition with their neighbors in their village in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
However, her family soon realized that Liaoliao could interpret light. She would always face the sun when taken outside and rubbed her eye sockets when the indoor lights were turned on.
With a glimmer of hope, Liaoliao’s family turned to the Xiamen Eye Center of Xiamen University, which had experience with cases of this kind dating back to 2007.
After an operation on November 23, Liu Zuguo, director of the Xiamen Eye Center said that at present, Liaoliao’s muscles are unable to support her eyelids while certain components within her eye have not formed fully. Therefore, the next operation will focus upon improving Liaoliao’s visual recovery.
This is part two of a series (Part 1) (Part 3) (Part 4) (Part 5) covering several ways that humanity’s time on Earth could conceivably come to an end. The study of the apocalypse, known as eschatology has been a pervasive force in religion, science, and popular culture since the development of the first cultures on Earth. Some of the theories about the end of days are more plausible than others, but all are thought-provoking nonetheless. In Part Two, I describe a few of the most likely ways in which the world as we know it could end due to Natural Disasters from Space. Cheers to the end of the world!
We’ve all seen the movies: asteroids and comets, earthquakes and volcanoes, solar flares and gamma-ray bursts…all natural ways in which our world can come to an end. And while the most…

Authorities in central Pennsylvania are trying to determine why a man fatally shot three people along a rural road before being killed in a gunfight with police.
Police were still trying to piece together a timeline in the arduous investigation of the Friday shootings that began in Frankstown Township and spanned five crime scenes within a 1.5-mile radius.
A woman decorating a church hall for a children’s Christmas party was among those killed. Three state troopers were injured.
Authorities haven’t released a motive for the shootings.
“It’s going to take us some time to put this all together … and know exactly what occurred,” said Lt. Col. George Bivens, a deputy state police commissioner.
Police did not release the names of the victims or the shooter, though they did say the man lived in Blair County, where all the shootings occurred. Clergy planned a prayer vigil Saturday for the victims, which included the woman at the Juniata Valley Gospel Church.
