OAU Dramatic Arts Student Allegedly Hit By Registrar’s Car.



On the evening of Saturday, 11th May 2013, a Dramatic Arts student at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State was reportedly hit by the school registrar’s car

According to her, she was on her way to her elder sister’s room at Akintola (Sports) hall when it happened. She had just crossed the tarred road from the junction that leads to Amphi-Theatre to the junction that leads to Akintola Hall when, unexpectedly an official and customized car that was coming from the School Bookshop road and headed towards the male halls of residence left its lane and ran into

The part one student, who pleaded anonymity told our reporter that the driver sped off immediately after the incident.

She was rushed to the school Health Center by concerned students who were accompanied by the institution’s security officers that came to the accident scene as soon as the ugly event occurred.

When they got to the Health Center, the doctor who was on duty was said to be ill but managed to attend to her with the assistance of some nurses.

She was discharged later that night after being treated on her fore-head, and nose where she sustained serious injuries but started vomiting when she returned to her sister’s room in Sports hall. The school ambulance service  after being called upon returned to take her back to the Health Center. She was finally discharged this (Sunday) morning. The victim as at the time of filing this report told us that she is experiencing severe pains on her legs.

While discussing with us this morning, she stated that some school senior officials (positions and names yet to be gathered) had come to check on her.

Although the school registrar in person of Mr. Ayorinde Ogunruku is yet to react to the incident; “the school CSO and Head of Transport Services visited me this morning,” she explained.

There is no news yet about the run-away driver. Also, it’s still unknown if the school authority will take the matter up as well as provide better medical care for her asides the one given to her at the school clinic.
