She got in touch on Facebook when she saw a TV documentary on how he shed 46 stone thanks to life-saving NHS surgeryThe man once the world’s fattest at 70 stone has revealed how he had found love online after losing more than half his body weight.
Paul Mason, 52, said he was “head over heels” for Rebecca Mountain, who got in touch on Facebook when she saw a TV documentary on how he shed 46 stone thanks to life-saving NHS surgery.
Rebecca, 40, lives 3,400 miles away in the US and the couple have yet to meet, but Paul believes their fledgling romancé is the real thing.
The ex-postie, who is now 24 stone, said: “I’m head over heels in love, this couldn’t have come at a better time for me.
“We became really close friends and now we’re boyfriend and girlfriend.
“I’m just desperate to meet her face-to-face. It’s her personality, drive and passion and she has a lovely smile that made me fall for her.”
Paul started overeating after a previous break-up and he gorged on up to 20,000 calories a day – eight times the recommended level.
Rebecca, of Orange, Massachusetts, contacted Paul last month offering to help him find a surgeon to remove the excess skin left by his weight loss.
Paul explained: “I was a bit cautious to start with but as soon as I met her on Skype I felt at ease.
“We talked for four-and-a-half hours and romancé quickly blossomed.”
