Banky W and Wizkid
Banky W has just revealed the tracklist for his new album – R& and guess what, Wizkid wasn’t featured in any any of the tracks.
The album sees collaboration with all of the EME acts besides Wizkid.
The absence of Wizkid in the album kinda confirms the on-going speculations of the ‘management crisis’ that the E.M.E is allegedly facing.
Meanwhile, new reports surfacing online reveal that Wizkid’s mum, “Mrs Balogun has been dragged into the crisis by Banky W”.
Since spirited efforts to get Wizkid, to retrace his steps back to the label that “gave him the platform to become the superstar he is today” has yielded no results, Banky W has decided to seek Mrs Balogun’s help, 247naijagossip reports.
“According to reports we are monitoring, Banky W supposedly went to Wizkid’s mum seeking her intervention in the crisis as it was becoming clearer that they (EME) were losing their hottest prospect yet. Banky was said to have reminded her of how he helped propel Wizzy’s career to greatness and being a mother, she reasoned in that direction and promised to talk to her son.” 247naijagossip claims.
Banky W recently told the media during the world press conference organised by COSON at the Protea Hotel, GRA, Ikeja, that “Wizkid is going international and as a result we have to re-negotiate the contract he signed. Wizkid has his own idea of how he wants to do things and he has plans for himself too. Wizkid is still with us, there’s no problem, things will be sorted out soon.”
We really hope things don’t get messy like it did with D’banj and Mohits or May D and Square records.
It’s just two months into 2013, but the year’s already looking very good for R&B giant and label exec Banky W.
We’ve just been told the EME boss has renewed his endorsement deal with Samsung Electronics West Africa, which his reps say is worth about N100m.
‘Banky and Nollywood star, Kate Henshaw will be the faces of Samsung Electronics West Africa Mobile Division. They will work together to raise awareness for Samsung mobile products, and ultimately contribute to making Samsung phones the preferred brand in the West Africa sub-region’, according to a statement from his reps.
Banky W has in the past been involved with Telecommunications Company Etisalat and Coca Cola Bottling Company, among others.
‘This is my second run as a Samsung brand ambassador and I’m grateful for the opportunity’, Banky W said in a recent interview.
The gifted singer will unveil his new album R&BW this Friday, at the Civic Centre, in Lagos.
E.M.E Chairman, Banky W, was expected to deliver the very highly anticipated #R&BW album earlier this year… however, in a move that caught his numerous fans and followers by surprise, he postponed the release of his solo material to put the EME Crew in the forefront.
This turned out to be a good decision for the crew, as 2012 witnessed the release of the “Empire Mates State Of Mind” album arguably Nigeria’s biggest and best album this year.
